How do we protect our data center?
We have several layers of physical protection around our servers as our first line of defence. Our Data Centres are located in various different geographical areas, ensuring all our data is never in the same place at the same time. Access to our Data Centres is highly restricted and only very few authorised personnel are allowed to enter. Physical access is completely controlled by use of Keys and Tags so we know exactly when any of our staff enter a Data Centre, how long they have been inside for and exactly what they are doing. CCTV is also used to monitor the Data Centres 24/7.
How do we protect our servers?
Each of our servers are protected by a series of highly secure firewalls to prevent unwanted access to your data. Authorised personnel are the sole people given administrative access to the servers and even these staff members only have access to encrypted hardware. Each of these authorised members of Trade Only personnel go through what we call Two Factor Authentication, a two step login process needed in order to gain access to the servers. Additionally, all databases are within the servers are protected by access restrictions and key information, such as passwords, are encrypted. SSL, a standard way to encrypt communication between the browser (i.e. Firefox or Internet Explorer) and the server, is used throughout to protect sensitive information when it is in transit. Security and access logs are also proactively monitored for attempted intrusions. Here at Trade Only, we constantly monitor the servers to ensure that you are as protected as possible.
How do we back up your data?
All the data that is on our servers is constantly backed up, or ‘mirrored’ as the technical like to call it, to redundant backup servers. These redundant backup servers are spare servers that duplicate everything that is on the main server. In the event the main server dies, the redundant server can be quickly brought online by our team to replace the failed server in order to minimise server downtime. Each and every piece of data on our servers is backed up to the other Data Centres nightly so that in the highly unlikely event of a system wide disaster, full recovery can be performed, leaving you with absolutely nothing to worry about.
How do you ensure that VISION is always available to use?
We cannot afford for VISION to have any down time, however as with all technological solutions, cases can happen. What's important is how quickly you can react to them and resolve the issue. We made the decision to host in a dedicated Server Farm that has an employee presence 24 hours a day. All our Servers are monitored and outages trigger a series of email notifications to our key technicians. Finally, any maintenance we carry out on the servers is communicated in advance and carried out, out of hours.
